How do the different DSL line rental speeds work?

Your line speed may vary from time to time as DSL is a best effort service. The DSL line speeds below are recommendations from Telkom, as they own the DSL infrastructure (copper cables).

  • ADSL Fast – Up to 2Mbps Downstream: min 416kbps; max 2Mbps Upstream: min 64kbps
  • ADSL Faster – Up to 4Mbps Downstream: min 640kbps; max 4Mbps Upstream: min 128kbps
  • ADSL Fastest – Up to 10Mbps Downstream: min 640kbps; max 10Mbps Upstream: min 256Kbps
  • VDSL Elite – Up to 20Mbps (VDSL) Downstream: min 11Mbbps; max 20Mbps Upstream: min 1Mbps
